Laurent Y. Peter
"Look and think before opening the shutter. The heart and mind are the true lens of the camera"
Yousuf Karsh-portrait photographer
Verite Pictures was launched in 2006 to present the cinematic and 'verite' approach to Laurent's photography and increasingly multimedia stories through a photographic lens. Photography has been a constant for over 15 years as Laurent held various positions as a project director and digital producer.
Note | In light of the recent news regarding the photography industry trying to maintain its standards in the digital age please note that in keeping a 'verite' approach to the photography all the photos you see on this site, and beyond, have not been altered in any way in terms of content. At times slight cropping and color adjustment has been used ( many are slides/films). The moments are real and the subjects are kind strangers who took a moment to look into the camera or went about their day as the camera captured a brief 'verite' moment. In this digital world it is important for photographers to state their stance and process.
Recently Laurent focused on journalism by working with a UN based press agency, Media Global, before obtaining a masters in digital media from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. This mid-career step led to a position securing on-camera interviews for Al Jazeera America from 2013 until the spring of 2016. He is currently freelancing as a photographer and news / digital producer.
